Ritsuban vs Sunsama

A quieter daily planner, at well under half the price.

Ritsuban is $8 a month, or $6 a month if you pay for the year. Sunsama’s own pricing page listed $22 a month billed monthly and $17 a month billed yearly when we read it on 28 August 2026. What follows is the trade you make for that gap — the gaps on our side first.

What Ritsuban doesn’t do yet

If calendar sync or your Asana/Todoist/Slack integrations are why you use Sunsama, stay on Sunsama.

  • Meeting recording and AI summaries are Mac-only today. They are not in the iPhone, Android or web builds.
  • No reminders, notifications or calendar sync. Ritsuban has a day calendar — it just builds it from your tasks and estimates instead of syncing your Google/Outlook calendar.
  • No widgets, Shortcuts or Siri, Apple Watch or Wear OS. Capture happens in the app.
  • No collaboration or sharing. Ritsuban plans one person’s week: there are no shared boards, assignees or comments.
  • No third-party integrations. Nothing flows in from Asana, Todoist, Jira, Slack or Notion. The one inbound path is forwarding email to your Ritsuban capture address.
  • Offline is titles and excerpts only. Search still answers while you are disconnected; the rest of the app expects a connection.
  • No iPad-specific layouts yet. Ritsuban runs natively on iPad in every orientation and in Split View, but the multi-column board and split-pane notes are still ahead of us.

Questions

How much does Ritsuban cost compared with Sunsama?

Ritsuban is $8 a month billed monthly, or $72 a year — $6 a month. Sunsama’s own pricing page listed $22 a month billed monthly and $17 a month billed yearly when we checked it on 28 August 2026. Prices move, so treat sunsama.com/pricing as the authority on theirs.

Does Ritsuban sync with Google Calendar or Outlook?

No. Ritsuban has a day calendar — it just builds it from your tasks and estimates instead of syncing your Google or Outlook calendar. If your meetings need to appear beside your tasks automatically, Sunsama is the better fit and you should stay on it.

Can I import my tasks from Sunsama?

Not today. There is no importer, and we would rather say so than promise one. Most people who switch start with a single week: bring across what is actually live, add tasks by hand or by forwarding email to your Ritsuban capture address, and leave the archive where it is.

Which platforms does Ritsuban run on?

The web app, a macOS desktop app, iPhone and Android. Meeting recording and AI summaries are Mac-only today. Ritsuban runs natively on iPad in every orientation and in Split View, but it has no iPad-specific layouts yet.

Is there a free trial?

Yes — 30 days, full-featured, no credit card. When a trial ends nothing is deleted: your account becomes read-only, so you can still sign in, read your work and export it, and you pick up where you left off if you subscribe later.
